Day-by-Day Itinerary

Nairobi to Ol Pejeta Conservancy — A2 Highway via Nanyuki (230 km, ~3.5 hrs)

7:00 am — Pick-up from your Nairobi hotel. Drive north on Thika Superhighway (A2) through the coffee estates of Thika and green highlands via Sagana. Cross the equator at Nanyuki (photo stop). Continue west to Ol Pejeta's main gate. Arrive by 11:00 am. Check in with panoramic Mt Kenya views. Lunch at the lodge. 2:30 pm — Afternoon open-vehicle game drive. Visit the Endangered Species Enclosure for close-range black rhino sightings, then meet Najin and Fatu — the last two northern white rhinos on Earth. Spot buffalo, eland, and Jackson's hartebeest. Return to camp by 6:30 pm.

Full Day Ol Pejeta — Chimpanzee Sanctuary, Game Drives & Mt Kenya Views

6:00 am — Sunrise open-vehicle game drive. Track lions, spotted hyenas, and leopards in riverside thickets. 9:00 am — Return for breakfast. 10:00 am — Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary visit. Walk the viewing platform as orphaned chimps play, groom, and call across the sanctuary. Stop at the Morani Information Centre. Lunch at camp. 3:30 pm — Afternoon game drive through the western sector. Burchell's zebra and impala graze beneath Mt Kenya's silhouette while secretary birds stalk through the grass. Return by 6:30 pm.

Morning Game Drive, Transfer to Nairobi & SGR to Mombasa (230 km drive + 472 km train)

5:30 am — Final sunrise game drive through Ol Pejeta's eastern boundary. 7:30 am — Quick breakfast and check out. 8:00 am — Depart south through Nanyuki, past the equator, through Sagana and onto Thika Superhighway. Arrive at Nairobi Terminus (Syokimau) by 12:00 pm. 1:00 pm — Board the Madaraka Express SGR train to Mombasa. The 472 km journey takes ~5 hours in air-conditioned First Class comfort with reclining seats and a buffet car — watch the landscape transform from highland to savannah to coastal lowland. Arrive at Mombasa Terminus by 6:00 pm. Met by your driver for the 40 km transfer south to Diani Beach (~1 hour via Likoni Ferry or Dongo Kundu Bypass). Arrive at your Diani Beach resort by 7:30 pm.

Board the high-speed Madaraka Express from your nearest station to Mombasa — air-conditioned comfort with panoramic views of Tsavo's plains.

Train Option

Board at the nearest station after your safari — Voi (Tsavo East) or Mtito Andei (Tsavo West). Arrive Mombasa by 2:00 PM. First-class tickets included in your package. A C.A.T.S representative meets you at Mombasa Terminus for the transfer to your beach hotel.

Jeep Option to the Coast

Prefer to continue in your private 4×4 Land Cruiser? No problem — at no extra cost. Your guide drives you directly to your Diani Beach hotel, arriving approximately 5:00 PM with wildlife spotting opportunities along the way.
