Amboseli Day Trip

4:30 AM. Meet your group and climb aboard the safari vehicle as Nairobi still sleeps. You head south through the awakening countryside — sunrise paints the farmlands and homesteads in warm orange tones, and you may spot Maasai herders wrapped in colorful shukas tending their cattle along the road. After a breakfast stop, the unmistakable flat top of Mount Kilimanjaro appears on the horizon, growing larger with every kilometre. You enter Amboseli National Park by mid-morning and the game viewing starts right away. Large elephant herds move across the dusty plains with Africa's highest peak as their backdrop — a sight unique to this park. Your guide heads to the swamp areas where hippos surface among flocks of pelicans and Egyptian geese. After a buffet lunch at a lodge inside the park, you climb Observation Hill for panoramic views stretching from the dried lake bed to the snow-capped summit of Kilimanjaro. The afternoon drive brings encounters with lions, zebra, wildebeest, and buffalo before you depart for Nairobi, arriving by approximately 8:00 PM.
