Day-by-Day Itinerary

1

Nairobi to Amboseli

~240km | Approx. 4 hrs

7:00 AM pickup from your Nairobi hotel for the drive south on the Namanga road, through Emali's acacia scrub where Maasai herders move their livestock along the roadside. Arriving at Amboseli National Park by early afternoon, you check in and head straight out for your first game drive. Amboseli's shallow, spring-fed swamps support some of Africa's biggest tuskers, and it isn't long before a family herd crosses the dusty lakebed, Mount Kilimanjaro's snow-capped summit rising behind them when the cloud clears.

Meals:Lunch · Dinner
Day 2 — Full Day Amboseli
2

Full Day Amboseli

Full Day Game Drives

6:00 AM game drive while Kilimanjaro is at its clearest, the glaciers catching first light before daytime cloud builds around the peak. Your guide tracks elephant herds through the Enkongo Narok swamp, where egrets ride on their backs, then climbs Observation Hill for a sweeping panorama over marsh, plain, and mountain. The afternoon reveals gerenuk browsing on hind legs and crowned cranes performing their leaping courtship display, closing with elephant families filing back to the swamps in golden-hour silhouette.

Meals:Breakfast · Lunch · Dinner
Day 3 — Amboseli to Masai Mara
3

Amboseli to Masai Mara

~400km | Approx. 7 hrs

6:30 AM farewell game drive across Amboseli's dewy plains before breakfast and a long westward drive skirting the Ngong Hills and Rift Valley floor. The landscape shifts from semi-arid bush to rolling green highlands as you approach Narok, then opens into the golden grassland of the Masai Mara by mid-afternoon. Your first game drive delivers immediately — lion prides in the shade, elephant herds crossing the track, and wildebeest columns stretched across the savannah.

Meals:Breakfast · Lunch · Dinner
4

Full Day Masai Mara

Full Day Game Drives

5:30 AM start while dew still clings to the grass, tracking the Mara's resident prides as they finish the night's hunt. By mid-morning you're at the Mara River, its brown current thick with hippo pods and Nile crocodiles hauled onto the sandbanks — between July and October this stretch stages the Great Migration's crossings. A bush lunch beneath a balanites tree, then an afternoon in the Mara Triangle, where topi stand watch on termite mounds and a leopard is sometimes found draped along a sausage tree limb.

Meals:Breakfast · Lunch · Dinner
Day 5 — Masai Mara to Serengeti
5

Masai Mara to Serengeti

~300km | Approx. 6-7 hrs

6:30 AM game drive through dewy grassland before you turn south for the Isebania border, where your guide handles the paperwork and a Tanzanian driver-guide takes over. The road climbs onto the Serengeti's western corridor, the bush thinning into the flat golden horizon the park is famous for. An afternoon drive toward the Seronera Valley turns up your first Serengeti wildebeest columns and, with luck, a lioness resting in a fig tree's shade.

Meals:Breakfast · Lunch · Dinner
Day 6 — Full Day Serengeti
6

Full Day Serengeti

Full Day Game Drives

6:00 AM into one of the planet's great wildlife arenas. The morning threads between granite kopjes where lion prides doze in the shade and rock hyrax scatter underfoot, before dropping into the Seronera River's gallery forest — a reliable spot for leopard and basking crocodile. A bush lunch under a flat-topped acacia, then an afternoon on the short-grass plains where cheetah families use termite mounds as hunting perches and wildebeest herds stretch to the horizon.

Meals:Breakfast · Lunch · Dinner
7

Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater

~145km | Approx. 3 hrs

6:30 AM game drive across the short-grass plains before you climb east into the Ngorongoro highlands, Maasai bomas dotting the green slopes. By early afternoon you reach the crater rim and descend 600 metres by 4x4 into the caldera — the world's largest intact volcanic crater and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. On the floor, black rhino graze the open grassland, elephant bulls move through the Lerai fever-tree forest, and thousands of lesser flamingos crowd Lake Magadi's shallows. A picnic lunch beside the Ngoitokitok hippo pool rounds out the day.

Meals:Breakfast · Lunch · Dinner
Day 8 — Ngorongoro to Tarangire
8

Ngorongoro to Tarangire

~145km | Approx. 3 hrs

7:00 AM breakfast at the rim, then a drive south through Karatu's coffee farms and Mto wa Mbu before entering Tarangire National Park by early afternoon. Swollen baobab trees, some estimated at over a thousand years old, rise above the golden grass, and your game drive follows the Tarangire River, where elephant herds numbering in the hundreds gather to drink and dust-bathe in the late light, among more than 550 recorded bird species.

Meals:Breakfast · Lunch · Dinner
9

Tarangire to Arusha

~120km | Approx. 2 hrs

7:00 AM final game drive through Tarangire's baobab woodland, hornbills clattering overhead, before breakfast at the lodge. The drive north to Arusha takes around two hours through farmland and Maasai settlements. On arrival you're transferred to your hotel or on to Kilimanjaro International Airport, closing out nine days across five parks and two countries.
