Tour Highlights
Day-by-Day Itinerary
Nairobi to Masai Mara
6:00 AM. Your guide picks you up from your Nairobi hotel and you head west toward the legendary Masai Mara, roughly five to six hours away. The drive climbs past the Great Rift Valley escarpment — a stop here rewards you with sweeping views across the valley floor far below. Continue through Narok town and into Maasai pastoral country, where cattle graze alongside the road and red-cloaked herders raise a hand in greeting. As you approach the reserve, the golden savannah stretches to the horizon — big-cat country. After checking into your safari lodge for lunch, the afternoon game drive takes you into the heart of one of Africa's greatest wildlife spectacles. Lions laze in the tall grass, elephants move through acacia woodland, and herds of wildebeest carpet the rolling plains.
Full Day Masai Mara
5:30 AM. A pre-dawn start catches the Mara's golden hour — mist clinging to the savannah as your guide tracks predators. Cheetahs perch on termite mounds scanning for prey, leopards drape across sausage tree limbs, and lion prides stir from their night's rest. By mid-morning you reach the Mara River, its brown waters alive with hippo pods and massive Nile crocodiles basking on the sandy banks. During migration season, this river stage hosts one of nature's greatest dramas. The afternoon explores the Mara Triangle's rolling hills — topi stand sentinel on every ridge, eland and Thomson's gazelles graze the green flats, and hyenas lope across the open ground. You return to your lodge as the sun sets the savannah ablaze in amber and gold.
Masai Mara to Serengeti
6:30 AM. After breakfast, you leave the Masai Mara and drive south toward Tanzania, crossing the border at Isebania. Your guide handles the immigration formalities at this busy crossing point. Once in Tanzania, you continue toward the Serengeti, entering the park through the western corridor. The landscape transforms into the iconic endless plains — flat golden grassland stretching in every direction under a sky so vast it feels like the edge of the world. An afternoon game drive reveals the Serengeti's legendary wildlife: enormous wildebeest herds, zebra columns stretching to the horizon, cheetahs hunting across the open ground, and your guide navigating toward the Seronera Valley where leopards hide in riverine fig trees. Check into your safari lodge as the Serengeti sunset paints the sky orange.
Full Day Serengeti
6:00 AM. A full day exploring the Serengeti — arguably the greatest wildlife arena on the planet. The morning drive takes you through the central Seronera area, where the river draws leopards, hippos, and huge crocodiles. Your guide navigates between granite kopjes — ancient rock outcrops where prides of lions rest in the shade, surveying their territory across the open plains. Wildebeest herds number in the hundreds of thousands during migration, creating a living carpet of movement. After a packed lunch beneath a spreading acacia, the afternoon drive explores new sectors — perhaps the marsh areas where elephants and buffalo concentrate, or the short-grass plains where cheetah families teach their cubs to hunt. The light at dusk is extraordinary, turning the endless grassland to liquid gold.
Serengeti to Ngorongoro
6:30 AM. A morning game drive captures the Serengeti's golden dawn light before you depart eastward toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The drive crosses the short-grass plains and climbs into the forested highlands, with Maasai bomas dotting the landscape. You arrive at the crater rim by early afternoon and descend 600 meters into the caldera — the world's largest intact volcanic crater and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The floor is alive with roughly 25,000 animals. Lions, elephants, buffalo, and rare black rhinos share this natural amphitheatre. Lake Magadi shimmers pink with flamingos at the crater's center. You enjoy a picnic lunch beside a hippo pool, then continue exploring until late afternoon before ascending to your lodge on the crater rim.
Ngorongoro Crater to Zanzibar
6:00 AM. An early descent into the Ngorongoro Crater for a final morning game drive — the dawn light raking across the caldera floor creates magical conditions for wildlife viewing. Lions are on the move, hyenas finish their night hunts, and your guide searches for any black rhinos not seen yesterday. By mid-morning, you ascend the crater and drive to Arusha, arriving around lunchtime. After freshening up, you transfer to Arusha Airport for your afternoon flight to Zanzibar — roughly one hour over the blue expanse of the Indian Ocean. You land on this fabled spice island and are transferred to your beach resort on the coast, arriving as the tropical sun drops toward the turquoise horizon. The contrast from dusty savannah to white sand and warm ocean breeze is extraordinary.
Zanzibar Beach Leisure
Wake at your own pace to the sound of waves lapping the white sand shore. After breakfast, your day on Zanzibar is yours to design. The turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean stretch endlessly before you — warm, calm, and impossibly clear. You might arrange a snorkeling trip to the nearby coral reefs, where colorful parrotfish, angelfish, and sea turtles glide through the warm shallows. Or take a traditional dhow boat out along the coast, the lateen sail catching the ocean breeze. In the afternoon, walk the powder-white beach as local fishermen bring in their catch — barracuda, kingfish, and octopus destined for tonight's seafood dinner. As the sun sets, the sky turns from gold to deep crimson over the Indian Ocean, and the warm evening air carries the scent of cloves and grilled seafood from the resort kitchen.
Zanzibar Departure
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at your beach resort as the morning light plays across the turquoise water. Depending on your flight time, you might have a final morning swim in the warm Indian Ocean or a walk along the beach collecting shells on the sand. Your driver transfers you to Zanzibar Airport for your departure flight — the short drive passing through spice plantations, small villages with corrugated-roof homes, and palm groves swaying in the coastal breeze. At the airport, you'll carry eight days of extraordinary memories — from the lion-stalked plains of the Masai Mara and the endless Serengeti to the wildlife-packed Ngorongoro Crater and the white-sand tranquility of Zanzibar. Two countries, four worlds, one unforgettable journey.
