Day-by-Day Itinerary

1

Nairobi to Masai Mara

~270km | Approx. 5 hrs

6:00 AM. Depart Nairobi as the city stirs awake, heading west through the cool highland air toward the Great Rift Valley. At the escarpment edge, step out for sweeping panoramic views — the valley floor shimmering below, dotted with extinct volcanoes. Continue through the dusty market town of Narok and into open Maasai rangeland where cattle share the savannah with giraffe. By early afternoon you reach the Masai Mara, check into your lodge, and set out on your first game drive. Golden grasslands ripple to the horizon, alive with columns of migrating wildebeest, zebra herds kicking up amber dust, and the watchful silhouettes of lions scanning for opportunity.

Day 2 — Full Day Masai Mara
2

Full Day Masai Mara

Full Day

5:30 AM. The Mara dawn breaks in soft copper light as you head straight for the Mara River — the legendary stage of the Great Migration's most dramatic act. Thousands of wildebeest mass along the muddy banks, their grunts filling the air as Nile crocodiles glide through the brown current below. The tension is electric until one animal leaps and the crossing erupts in a thundering chaos of hooves, spray, and raw survival. Your guide positions you perfectly for this once-in-a-lifetime Masai Mara wildlife spectacle. After a bush lunch under a fig tree, the afternoon explores different terrain — a pride of lions dozing beneath a balanites tree, a cheetah family scanning the plains from a termite mound, and elephant matriarchs leading their young through golden acacia woodland.

Day 3 — Full Day Masai Mara — Second Day

Full Day Masai Mara — Second Day

Full Day

5:30 AM. Your second full day unlocks new corners of the Mara's vast 1,510 square kilometres — there is always a fresh chapter unfolding. The morning track leads through riverine forest where your guide spots a leopard draped across a branch, tail flicking above the leaf canopy. Further on, a hyena den buzzes with playful cubs tumbling in the red earth while adults return from a night hunt. Vast wildebeest herds stretch across the Mara Triangle like a dark, living river across the grasslands. A bush lunch is served under an acacia canopy with weaver birds chattering overhead. The afternoon game drive sweeps through the Mara Triangle's rolling hills — watch topi sentinels standing on termite mounds and hippos wallowing in the Talek River as the African safari sun dips toward the escarpment.

4

Masai Mara — Cross Border to Serengeti

~200km via border | Approx. 5 hrs

6:00 AM. A final morning game drive through the Mara's golden plains yields parting gifts — perhaps a secretary bird striding through the dew-soaked grass or a jackal pair trotting along a lugga. After lunch at your lodge, drive south toward the Kenya-Tanzania border at Isebania/Sirari. Our trusted Tanzanian partners meet you at the border post for a seamless vehicle and guide handoff while we handle every piece of paperwork. Cross into Tanzania and the landscape shifts — flatter, wider, the sky enormous. You enter the Northern Serengeti with its scattered whistling-thorn acacia and migrating herds already visible on the amber horizon. Arrive at your Serengeti lodge by late afternoon as the sun paints the plains in burnt orange.

Day 5 — Full Day Serengeti
5

Full Day Serengeti

Full Day

5:30 AM. Dawn ignites the Serengeti plains in a wash of rose and gold as you begin a full day exploring the other half of the Great Migration ecosystem. Here the herds take a different shape — massive columns of wildebeest stretching for kilometres across the open grasslands, gathering near the Grumeti River where crocodiles lie in wait, or scattered among the granite kopjes that rise like ancient islands from the savannah. Predator density is extraordinary on this Big Five safari — a pride of sixteen lions resting on a sun-warmed kopje, a trio of cheetahs scanning from a ridge, a leopard concealed in the canopy of a sausage tree. The Serengeti plains feel infinite, the wildlife encounters relentless.

Day 6 — Full Day Serengeti — Second Day
6

Full Day Serengeti — Second Day

Full Day

5:30 AM. Your second Serengeti day ventures into contrasting terrain that reveals the park's staggering diversity across 14,763 square kilometres. The Western Corridor's riverine forests harbour colobus monkeys and brilliant turaco flashes of crimson and green. Granite kopjes in the central Serengeti shelter hyrax colonies and the resident lion prides that have made these rocky outcrops famous. Hippo pools teem with snorting, yawning pods, while seasonal wetlands attract saddle-billed storks and crowned cranes picking through emerald shallows. As the afternoon light turns amber, a sunset game drive along the Seronera Valley delivers final magic — perhaps a serval hunting in the tall grass or a leopard descending a fig tree against a sky streaked in violet and flame.

7

Serengeti Morning — Fly or Drive to Arusha/Nairobi

Morning Drive + Transfer

6:00 AM. The Serengeti sunrise spills liquid gold across the plains as you set out for a final morning game drive — a last chance to watch the Great Migration herds moving through the pale morning mist, their silhouettes etched against the awakening sky. Savour the sounds of the African bush one more time: the distant whoop of hyenas, the trill of a lilac-breasted roller, the deep rumble of an elephant greeting the day. After a leisurely breakfast, transfer to Arusha by road through the volcanic highlands or opt for a scenic bush flight over the caldera-dotted landscape. Connections are available onward to Nairobi for evening departure, carrying memories of a Kenya Tanzania safari that followed the herds across two legendary parks.
