Day-by-Day Itinerary
Nairobi – Masai Mara National Reserve
6:00 AM. Your driver-guide collects you from your Nairobi hotel in a customized 4x4 pop-top Land Cruiser. Meet your group and settle in as we leave the city behind.
The highway climbs through lush highlands before the land drops at the Great Rift Valley viewpoint — pause to take in the vast ancient valley. We continue through Narok, the last town before the Mara, stopping for refreshments. Beyond Narok, tarmac gives way to red murram roads of Maasai country.
Arriving at the Sekenani Gate around midday, the reserve's endless plains open before you. Game viewing begins immediately — giraffe browse the treetops, warthogs scurry through scrub, and zebra herds scatter as we approach. Settle into your tented camp for lunch, then roll out for an afternoon game drive. We cruise the grasslands near the Talek River where lion prides and elephant families are frequently spotted. Your guide finds a prime sunset viewpoint before heading back for dinner.

Full Day – Endless Mara Plains
6:00 AM. Step out of your tent to a chorus of birdsong and the distant rumble of wildebeest. Coffee in hand, pile into the Land Cruiser for the dawn drive — prime hunting time for the Mara's famous big cats.
Your guide heads toward the open plains south of the Mara River, where cheetahs launch high-speed chases. Scan the kopjes — rocky outcrops — for lounging leopards. Topi stand sentinel on termite mounds, and secretary birds strut through the short grass.
Mid-morning, we push deeper. During the Great Migration (July–October), massive herds of wildebeest blanket the plains by the hundreds of thousands. Even outside season, the resident wildlife is staggering — buffalo herds a thousand strong, towers of giraffe silhouetted against the sky, and hippo pools teeming with activity.
Packed picnic lunch in the bush, then we explore different sectors through the afternoon, maximizing your Big Five chances. As the golden hour approaches, your guide positions the vehicle for a classic Mara sunset. Return to camp for dinner and swap stories with fellow travelers.
Masai Mara – Nairobi
6:00 AM. One last early morning game drive to soak up the Mara's magic. Soft golden light paints the grasslands as we cruise past grazing herds and scan riverbanks for crocodiles basking on the sandy shores. Your guide targets any species your group hasn't yet encountered — perhaps a black rhino in the thickets or a leopard returning from a night hunt.
By 9:00 AM, head back for breakfast, check out, and begin the return journey. We trace the red-earth roads back through Maasai land, where children wave from homestead doorways. Comfort stops along the route include views of the Rift Valley escarpment.
Arrive in Nairobi by late afternoon, approximately 4:00–5:00 PM. Drop-off at your hotel, Jomo Kenyatta Airport, or another location of your choice.
