2-Day Diani to Tsavo East & West Safari

Early morning pick-up from your Diani Beach hotel. Drive north through the coastal hinterland, passing sisal plantations and baobab-dotted landscapes. Enter Tsavo East National Park through Bachuma Gate and begin game driving immediately. The vast open savanna of Tsavo East stretches to the horizon — this is raw, untamed Africa at its finest. Encounter the park's famous red elephants, their skin stained by the laterite soil as they dust-bathe at waterholes. Visit the dramatic Lugard Falls where the Galana River forces through narrow sculptured rock channels, and scan the Aruba Dam for large concentrations of wildlife. Buffalo, giraffe, zebra, and ostrich are abundant, while the lucky may spot lion, cheetah, or the rare African wild dog. Continue your game drive as the sun drops, painting the sky in shades of copper and fire.

After breakfast, cross into Tsavo West for a morning of exploration. The landscape changes dramatically — volcanic hills, dense bush, and the crystal-clear Mzima Springs await. Watch hippos gliding through the transparent water from the underwater observation chamber, and keep an eye out for Nile crocodiles on the banks. Drive past the Shetani Lava Flow, a hauntingly beautiful field of black volcanic rock. Continue game driving through Tsavo West's rugged terrain, watching for leopard, buffalo, and the shy gerenuk. After lunch, exit the park and drive back to Diani Beach, arriving in the late afternoon with enough time for a sunset swim in the Indian Ocean.
