Day-by-Day Itinerary

1

Nairobi to Amboseli

~240km | Approx. 4 hrs

7:00 AM pickup from your Nairobi hotel for the drive south on the Namanga road through Emali's dry acacia plains, where Maasai herders move cattle and goats along the roadside. Arrive at Amboseli National Park by early afternoon, check in, and go straight out on your first game drive. Amboseli's mineral-rich swamps support some of Africa's largest tuskers, and it isn't long before a family herd crosses the dusty lakebed while, cloud cover permitting, Mount Kilimanjaro's ice cap rises behind them at 5,895 metres.

Meals:Lunch · Dinner
Day 2 — Full Day Amboseli
2

Full Day Amboseli

Full Day Game Drives

6:00 AM game drive while Kilimanjaro's summit is at its clearest, glaciers catching the early light before cloud builds through the day. Track elephant herds through the Enkongo Narok swamp, where egrets ride on their backs, then climb Observation Hill for a sweeping panorama of marsh, plain, and mountain. The afternoon reveals gerenuk browsing on hind legs and crowned cranes performing their courtship dance, and as the light softens, long lines of elephants file back toward the swamps in silhouette.

Meals:Breakfast · Lunch · Dinner
Day 3 — Amboseli to Lake Nakuru
3

Amboseli to Lake Nakuru

~380km | Approx. 7 hrs

6:30 AM farewell game drive through Amboseli's misty plains before breakfast and departure. The route runs north past Nairobi and up the Rift Valley escarpment on the old Naivasha road, dropping into Lake Nakuru National Park by late afternoon. Fenced to protect its rhino population, Nakuru is one of the few parks where both black and white rhino graze openly, and the alkaline lake often carries a shifting pink fringe of lesser flamingos along its shore as the light fades.

Meals:Breakfast · Lunch · Dinner
4

Lake Nakuru to Lake Naivasha

~65km | Approx. 1.5 hrs

6:30 AM circuit of Nakuru's southern shore, where waterbuck graze beneath yellow-bark fever trees and pelicans lift off the lake in formation. After breakfast, a short drive brings you to Lake Naivasha. The afternoon is spent on the water — a boat ride brings you close to grunting hippo pods and fish eagles swooping for bait — followed by a walking safari on Crescent Island, one of the few places in Kenya where you walk on foot among giraffe, zebra, and waterbuck.

Meals:Breakfast · Lunch · Dinner
Day 5 — Lake Naivasha to Masai Mara
5

Lake Naivasha to Masai Mara

~230km | Approx. 4-5 hrs

7:00 AM departure past Naivasha's flower farms and south through Narok County, tarmac giving way to red murram as you enter Maasai rangeland. By early afternoon you cross into the Masai Mara National Reserve — rolling grassland studded with flat-topped acacias, wildebeest and zebra grazing along the track. Your first Mara game drive delivers topi standing sentinel on termite mounds and fresh lion tracks pressed into the grass along the Talek River.

Meals:Breakfast · Lunch · Dinner
6

Full Day Masai Mara

Full Day Game Drives

5:30 AM start while the grass is silver with dew and prides are still finishing the night's hunt. Mid-morning brings you to the Mara River, where hippos jostle in the pools and Nile crocodiles bask on the mud banks — between July and October this is the stage for the Great Migration's river crossings. A bush lunch under a balanites tree, then an afternoon drive through the Mara Triangle where elephant families cross in loose lines against a reddening sky.

Meals:Breakfast · Lunch · Dinner
Day 7 — Full Day Masai Mara — Second Day
7

Full Day Masai Mara — Second Day

Full Day Game Drives

6:00 AM into the reserve's quieter western sectors, tracking a leopard along the riverine forest fringe, her rosettes near-invisible in dappled light. Spotted hyena clans are found near their dens, cubs tumbling over each other. Afternoon light draws out bachelor herds of zebra at a gallop and secretary birds stalking through burnt grassland. As dusk settles, a pride begins to stir in the long grass, eyes catching the day's last amber light.

Meals:Breakfast · Lunch · Dinner
8

Masai Mara to Serengeti

~300km | Approx. 6-7 hrs

6:30 AM game drive before you turn south for the Isebania border crossing, where your guide manages immigration and hands you to your Tanzanian driver-guide. The road climbs onto the Serengeti's western corridor, the bush thinning into flat golden grassland stretching to a horizon that feels like the edge of the world. An afternoon game drive toward the Seronera Valley turns up your first Serengeti wildebeest columns.

Meals:Breakfast · Lunch · Dinner
Day 9 — Full Day Serengeti
9

Full Day Serengeti

Full Day Game Drives

5:45 AM, and the eastern sky ignites over a horizon dotted with flat-topped acacias. Track lion prides along the Seronera River, where monitor lizards hunt the waterline, then weave between granite kopjes rising from the plains like ancient islands — a good bet for sunning rock hyrax and, occasionally, a resting leopard. A bush lunch beneath a whistling thorn, then an afternoon drive through corridors thick with migrating wildebeest and zebra.

Meals:Breakfast · Lunch · Dinner
Day 10 — Full Day Serengeti — Second Day
10

Full Day Serengeti — Second Day

Full Day Game Drives

Your guide reads the migration's movement and drives you to wherever the herds are thickest — perhaps the Western Corridor, where the Grumeti River forces dramatic crossings, or central kopje country where cheetah mothers are teaching cubs to hunt. Along the way, bat-eared foxes peer from burrow entrances and serval cats stalk through the long grass. The golden-hour drive delivers giraffe silhouetted against a sky streaked magenta and gold.

Meals:Breakfast · Lunch · Dinner
11

Full Day Serengeti — Third Day

Full Day Game Drives

5:00 AM start for a third and unhurried day of exploration, giving your guide the freedom to chase whatever drama the morning brings — perhaps a wildebeest crossing at the Mara River's southern reaches, bodies surging through churning water as crocodiles lunge. Hidden valleys and seasonal pools most visitors never reach turn up serval cats and sprinting ostrich. Afternoon drives through the Moru Kopjes reveal ancient Maasai rock art, black rhino territory, and granite boulders crowned with basking agama lizards.

Meals:Breakfast · Lunch · Dinner
Day 12 — Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater
12

Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater

~145km | Approx. 3 hrs

6:30 AM farewell game drive across the short-grass plains before you climb east into the Ngorongoro highlands, Maasai bomas scattered across the green slopes. By early afternoon you reach the crater rim and descend 600 metres by 4x4 into the caldera floor, a UNESCO World Heritage Site holding roughly 25,000 animals. Black rhino graze in the open, lion prides doze near the Lerai fever-tree forest, and thousands of lesser flamingos crowd Lake Magadi's shallows. A picnic lunch beside the Ngoitokitok hippo pool closes out the day.

Meals:Breakfast · Lunch · Dinner
13

Ngorongoro to Tarangire

~145km | Approx. 3 hrs

7:00 AM breakfast at the rim, then a drive south through Karatu's coffee farms and Mto wa Mbu's banana groves before entering Tarangire National Park. Swollen baobab trees, some over a thousand years old, punctuate the golden grassland, and your afternoon game drive follows the Tarangire River, where elephant herds hundreds strong gather to drink and dust-bathe in the late light, among more than 550 recorded bird species.

Meals:Breakfast · Lunch · Dinner
Day 14 — Tarangire to Lake Manyara
14

Tarangire to Lake Manyara

~70km | Approx. 1.5 hrs

6:30 AM dawn drive through Tarangire's baobab woodland, then a short transfer north to Lake Manyara National Park beneath the Rift Valley escarpment. Manyara's dense groundwater forest gives way to open grassland and a shallow soda lake often tinged pink with flamingos. This is the park famous for tree-climbing lions, and your guide scans the fig and acacia canopy for a paw draped over a branch, while blue monkeys move through the treetops and elephants wade the swamp margins.

Meals:Breakfast · Lunch · Dinner
15

Lake Manyara to Arusha

~125km | Approx. 2 hrs

7:00 AM final game drive along Manyara's lakeshore and forest edge before breakfast at the lodge. The drive to Arusha along the Great North Road takes roughly two hours, past coffee estates and a last look back at the Rift escarpment. On arrival you're transferred to your hotel or on to Kilimanjaro International Airport, closing out fifteen days across eight parks and two countries.
